Program Purpose

The PAWsitive Recovery, Inc. Dog Foster Program exists to provide temporary, humane care for shelter or unhoused dogs while supporting recovery through responsibility, structure, and the human–animal bond.

Foster Responsibilities

Participants agree to:

  • Provide daily feeding, exercise, and care

  • Follow all training and safety protocols

  • Immediately report illness, injury, or behavioral concerns

  • Never use physical punishment or neglect

Animal Welfare & Safety

  • Dogs remain the property of PAWsitive Recovery, Inc. or partner shelters

  • Aggressive behavior may result in immediate removal of the animal

  • Bite incidents or injuries must be reported immediately

Veterinary Care

All veterinary decisions must be approved by program staff unless emergency care is required.

Liability Acknowledgment

I understand that working with animals carries inherent risk and agree to follow all safety guidelines. PAWsitive Recovery, Inc. maintains insurance but expects responsible participation.

Termination of Participation

PAWsitive Recovery, Inc. reserves the right to terminate foster participation at any time for safety, policy violations, or program needs.

Volunteer Role

Volunteers may assist with:

  • Administrative or fundraising support

All roles are supervised and subject to policy compliance.

NonEmployee Status

I understand that volunteering does not create an employment relationship and that no compensation is provided.

Release & Liability

I voluntarily assume risks associated with volunteering and release PAWsitive Recovery, Inc. from liability to the extent permitted by law.
